It is hotter than the surface of the sun today. It is the second to last day of school and it looks like I will be off again this summer.
I had a series of interviews this month. I had four for one position that I wound up not getting. That was a tough blow. I got sandbagged by a consultant who was territorial. I am a little bitter about it. They should have had me interview with Dr. No first. It would have saved us both a lot of time.
The old adage is true, the longer you are out of the job market the harder it is to get back in. I am starting to wonder if my career is over. I am only in my early 40’s. The prime of my life and I am not hopeful for the future.
I have one more interview this afternoon for a technology consulting company. And by company I mean 3 guys scraping by doing small business consulting. I am not going to bother putting on a tie. At this point it would just inconvenience my summer vacation if they hired me.
I’ll be on my best behavior on the interview but it is hard to get ramped up right now. School’s out and it is hotter than hell outside.
I won’t go in like this. Although I so like Spud’s approach to an interview. I may have to try it. Getting dressed and saying all the right things hasn’t worked for me yet.
