Judge blocks parts of Arizona immigration law – Yahoo! News

PHOENIX – A federal judge dealt a serious rebuke to Arizona’s immigration law on Wednesday when she put most of the crackdown on hold just hours before it was to take effect.

The ruling by U.S. District Judge Susan Bolton sets up a lengthy legal battle as Arizona fights to enact the nation’s toughest-in-the-nation law. Republican Gov. Jan Brewer said the state likely appeal the ruling and seek to get the judge’s order overturned.

But for now, opponents of the law have prevailed: The provisions that angered opponents will not take effect, including sections that required officers to check a person’s immigration status while enforcing other laws.

This just in from the “No One Is The Least Bit Surprised Department”

I’m sorry, I fell asleep reading this tired story. This law was a cry for help! Arizona might as well call itself North Mexico at this point. They are tired of the Federal Government doing nothing but paying lip service to the problem of illegal immigration.

I have nothing but love for illegal immigrants, they are very poor people looking to make their lives better. By and large they live law abiding lives (once they break the law to get in the US) and they work very hard for low wages.

The problem and the elephant in the room is the fact that there is no enforcement of the existing laws.

Like I have said in the past, make it very painful to employ illegal immigrants and they will stop coming. And then figure out what to do with the ones that are here but do not want to leave (which is about 12 million people). 12 million people is nothing to sneeze at.

But at this point the Federal Government is in collusion with big Agribusinesses to keep the wages of illegals low and to keep them from forming unions.

If the “undocumented, illegal” workers banded together they could be a force to be reckoned with.

I was actually shocked at the response of the people to this law. I saw Michael Moore  on TV last night supporting a boycott of Arizona. A half a million people turned out to protest the law last month.

I would love to see a half million people turn out to protest the fucked up wars we are fighting or the bank bailout or the largest transfer or wealth in human history, or the lies about the unemployment rate or the disintegration of the middle class.

It almost make me put on my conspiracy theory super hero cape and wonder if the protest against this law weren’t organized by the very companies that benefit from the illegal workers.

My conspiracy theory cape is black with a yellow stripe like Charlie Brown’s shirt. It’s really cool.
